Note LADY OF FIRE is a "clean read" rewrite of Tamara Leigh's 1995 Bantam Books bestseller, PAGAN BRIDE. Unlike LADY AT ARMS and LADY OF EVE, it is a standalone novel.

LADY OF FIRE A Medieval Romance edition by Tamara Leigh Religion Spirituality eBooks

Of all the Tamara Leigh “clean read” books I have read, this is by far my favorite (and I really, really liked the other ones.). As the story evolved, I thought I could predict what was going to happen and who was going to do what but this book was full of characters and scenarios that provided pleasant surprises. I didn’t feel like anything was contrived either. The decisions, reactions, and events in the book were complex and wonderfully intertwined.

The main character, Alessandra, matured during the story which was so refreshing! She even explored feminism and formed her own opinions - loved it! Her mother was an incredible and brave woman and the hero was admirable and reasonable - not some muscular macho stereotype who's stubborn with a one track mind. The author made me care about everyone – even the villain.

I also enjoyed the cultural elements and contrast between the religions, lifestyles, and climates. I was relieved that the author did not make the book gritty with its portrayal of slavery and I'm relieved it didn't include rape. (I don't need to read about it to be conscientious.)

Overall, it was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

LADY OF FIRE A Medieval Romance edition by Tamara Leigh Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Another lovely book from this author!! Tamara leads you into an exciting adventure-an adventure full of true love, faith, danger! It all starts about a story of a young lady,Allesandra, who was a lady of fire...one who knows her mind, one who doesn't give up easily, but, one who follows her heart and the wishes of her dying mother. Allesandra's mother,Lady Catherine..aka..Sabine,was kidnapped from her home in England and was with child-unknown to her English husband. Sabine did not want her daughter to be married to someone who is Islamic and would have many wives...so,she bought a slave named Lucien to help bring her daughter out of the harem and back to England, where her father would welcome her,or would he?? Allesandra and Lucien form a bond and will not know ,during the course of this journey, how strong that bond would become. I don't want to spoil the book for you-I just want to say, once again, another exciting, page after page book from Tamara Leigh )
Rated PG-13 for passionate kissing, a bath scene (but it is like a swimming scene with only ladies), a fire burned body, some fighting (jousting), and mention of slave trading
Tamara Leigh is one of those authors that you start out reading her book thinking, "I will only read 1 chapter then go to bed..." well...one sleepless night later you have read another book, the story stays in your mind, you ponder the characters and want to read more.
I. Love. Her. Books.
I am one who delights in 'clean' romance novels and truly this was, other than some 'passionate' kissing and reference to sexual slavery. This is a great read for a more mature reader who wants to have adventure, love, longing, passion and just a great overall story.
Bravo.
Tamara doesn't disappoint, yet again.

I actually like that the characters are gritty and wage wars in their souls, with their sexuality and emotions. I thought it clean, although I prob wouldn't want a young teen reading it. But that's about maturity, not content. PG-13 level.

The leading gal got on my nerves with being spoiled and rebellious but I got over it. I thought her story from home to ship to location to new location was fascinating and well developed.

Tamera isn't afraid to push boundaries but I never feel like she crosses them. And I feel her heart in her stories.
I purchased this while waiting for Leigh's next book to come out. This one was the only one I hadn't read. It was okay, but quite sensual and not really intriguing. I recently read the rewrite for Blackheart. While that one had a premise that made me wonder if it would be possible to make it into a clean read, I finally purchased it. I found it to be a great tale of redemption. Kudos to Leigh who was able to turn her previous mass market paperback into a tale of struggle and redemption. This one--not so much.
I found friends in historical romance novels when I was 15 years old, and 35 years later I can honestly say I still love them. But my taste has changed. I used to love the "bodice rippers" And prolonged sex scenes. As you get older and more mature, those get a bit repetitive. And boring. And unrealistic. I found this book and this author a few weeks ago, and I have purchased nearly every book she has written so far. I absolutely love the story without the distraction of chapter long sex scenes. I enjoy the stories, and the character development . Hats off to this author for not jumping on the bandwagon of vampires, dragons and ridiculously unending series that are more to keep readers buying books than satisfying readers. I appreciate this author!
Wonderful, but........
I really thought that this was a wonderful read. When I saw that Tamara Leigh had a new book out, I did not even hesitate. I did not even read the synopsis or any reviews. I purchased it and read it straight away because her books have never disappointed, until now. Even though I gave it five stars I would like to point out the lack in moral fibre. There is a limit to what a Christian aught to be reading. It should be clean enough that one is not ashamed to loan it out. I found that Allesandra in AlgiersHaving been brought up in a harem totally lacked moral sense. Some situations were totally uncalled for. She was totally compromised (willingly) by a man who should have known better how to treat a maiden. Then he refuses to marry her when it should have been his duty to do so had her father known just how far the relationship went. A chaste girl does not share a bed with a man not her husband and does she not want to uncover him to see for herself whether he is a eunich or not.
I found her totally lacking in virtue and at the same time proclaiming that she was chaste. Chastity is first and foremost a thing of the heart. To be a virgin does not mean that one is pure.
Of all the Tamara Leigh “clean read” books I have read, this is by far my favorite (and I really, really liked the other ones.). As the story evolved, I thought I could predict what was going to happen and who was going to do what but this book was full of characters and scenarios that provided pleasant surprises.
