I have been a fan of Connie Mason's books for years and have read every one. The stories were easy to read and follow, even the Regency ones. Until Mia Marlowe's name began appearing on the books, then the stories started to change. It wasn't Connie's writing style at all. The stories are difficult to read and follow. The worst book in my 'never to be humble' opinion was,, 'Sons of the Highlander. That was totally not Connie Mason's writing style. The dialogue was all written in a Scottish accent which Connie never used. This book is the first of a trilogy which are the last books that bear Connie Mason's name. While I'm sad she's no longer writing, it's even more unfortunate to me that this is the way she left the writing business. Out of curiosity, I purchased all three of this trilogy but I'm sure I'll be reading them quickly.

well written and fast moving I look forward to the next one, the characters jumped off the page very three dementional
I have read all of Connie Mason's books and I really thought this one did not live up to her previous ones. It was rather slow moving. I was disappointed and am not sure if I could really recommend it for others to read.
Very great story!... love that it continues, just love Connie Mason stories, have a lot of her older books
Another book good by Connie Mason. A quick read and a book story. Has the usual good intimate scenes. Will see how the rest of the series goes and hope that in the last book the wrong against the 3 men gets righted. I think I still like Connie Mason writing by herself better, but this is still a good read.
Ok, so he has a no choice situation, but at least he was gentleman enough to prolong it. I know I sound bias, but read the book and you can emphatise with Rhys. As for the plot - you can actually believe it could happen. Made the reading all the more enjoyable
The action takes place in London 1818. Some of the story is in Scotland.
The writers did a good job of displaying the PTSD the hero experienced. And his angst over a
particular battle during war aganist Napoleon. The who-done-it was interesting.
But WHERE WAS THE CHEMISTRY between the hero and heroine? He seemed jaded & insincere
to me. The love scenes were wooden. I've read 6 or more Connie Mason novels. Normally her
heroes & heroines have electricity in/ out of the bedroom. Didn't feel it here. Hope Connie
has not run out of ideas.
Edited for clarity.
It was beautifully written--at times the prose was almost poetic. It had a believable Regency feel and the authors had obviously done their research. I loved both of the main characters and truly felt for them, especially the hero who was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I thought the solution was obvious but he arrived at it eventually and he was so deep that I didn't mind he didn't see the obvious right away.
The ending felt a bit predictable but there was a little bit of a twist that saved it from being tiresome. Though I prefer romances that stay on the sweeter side, I knew based on the cover and the plot that there would probably be at least one sex scene. I underestimated. The sex scenes (and almost sex scenes) were graphic and the authors had no reservations about naming body parts, and so numerous that I started skimming and later skipping. Though it was a beautifully written story, based on the graphic nature of the many sex scenes, I probably won't pick up another one by these authors.
